On our way to Tacloban City Airport to fetch my boyfriend’s dad, they toured me to McArthur Park (Leyte Landing Memorial)
This is us goofing around at the back seat. That is my boyfriend (Alu), above him is his little brother (J.E.) and below me is his nephew, and my godson (Jayceon). You can find the Mc Arthur Park in Candahug, a barangay of the municipality of Palo in the province of Leyte.
If you don’t have any idea why this memorial was made, well then let me share the information that I know about this place.
Those large bronze statues are of the general and his men, including then Philippine president Sergio Osmeña, Jr., standing in a man-made pool. This memorial was a tribute to General Douglas MacArthur‘s fulfillment of his promise to return to the Philippines after it was occupied by the Japanese during World War II in the Philippines. The Japanese Occupation here in the Philippines ended after he landed at Red Beach on October 20, 1944 with 225,000 troops and 600 ships (awesome, right!).
That is just a little information for me to pass down to you guys, for more of it Google can help you. ^^
